The cafeteria at Vaughn College in the East Elmhurst neighborhood of New York City was built in underused maintenance space. It was expanded with a Butler Building addition to create the cafeteria and multipurpose facility. The space benefited from high-ceiling volume and ample daylighting, which was continued in the design of the pre-engineered addition, as was the exposed industrial infrastructure. The project included a full new kitchen, optimized to provide offerings most sought after by students and faculty.
