Thousands of U.S. schools now have solar installations

The number of U.S. schools with solar installations has grown, but there are still as many as 72,000 schools that could use solar feasibly, according to the Solar Foundation. The foundation partnered with the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) to create a database of known K-12 schools in the country with solar and found that there are 3,752 schools with installations that have the combined capacity of 490 megawatts. Additionally, their research concluded that about 450 districts could potentially save more than $1 million over 30 years with a solar photovoltaic system.
