Plans for high school in western Orange County, Fla., are rejected

County commissioners say no to district's plan for 2,850-student campus

The Orange County (Fla.) Commission has rejected the county school district's plan to build a new high school. The Orlando Sentinel reports that opponents of the project asserted that the noise, traffic and lights from a 2,850-student campus would be a bad fit for the area. District administrators had hoped to open a high school in the area by 2017.
