17-year-old girl is in stable condition being treated for a thigh wound

A 17-year-old female student at Grady High School in Atlanta suffered a gunshot wound in the thigh Wednesday morning, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says. She was hospitalized in stable condition. Police characterized the incident, which occurred in the parking lot of the school, as an accidental shooting. The gun belonged to the girl, authorities say, but they could not say if she had the gun inside the school at any point.
