Districts in Central Texas upgrade security on campuses

Even with 3,100 cameras keeping an eye on 86,600 students, the Austin (Texas) district blind spots in its security coverage. Eliminating these gaps has become a priority in recent weeks, and the district has shifted money to buy more cameras and fix the broken ones. Similar changes are under way at other districts in Central Texas, prompted by the mass murder of children and teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut in December.
