Alumnae of New Orleans girls' high school step in to save it

Xavier University Preparatory, an all-girls Catholic School in New Orleans, will remain open after a group of six alumnae stepped up to buy the school's building. The New Orleans Times-Picayune says members of the 5116 Magazine Street corporation, the group that bought the building, will rename the school St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory High School. The Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, who have operated the school for 98 years, had announced earlier this year that it would close the school because it did not have a "financially stable future."
