In 2015, about one-fifth of public high school students reported being bullied at school, according to the federal government's Indicators of School Crime and Safety: 2016. 

The report, which includes data from 35 states and the District of Columbia, says that nationwide, 20.2 percent of public school students in grades nine to 12 said they had been bullied on school property during the previous 12 months.

The greatest prevalence of bullying was in Nebraska, where 26.3 percent of high school students reported that they were victims of bullying at school in 2015.
