California provided more than $15.4 billion in support of higher education in 2018-19, according to the annual Grapevine survey compiled by by Illinois State University’s Center for the Study of Education Policy in cooperation with the State Higher Education Executive Officers.
The money allocated to colleges and universities by California more than doubled the next largest figure provided by a state—$7.6 billion by Texas.
Overall, funding by states for higher education amounted to more than $91.4 billion in 2018-19, the survey found.
