States with the highest percentage of residents with bachelor's degrees

As of 2014, these states had the highest percentage of residents 25 and older who had received bachelor's degrees.

In 2014, 30.1 percent of U.S. residents 25 and older had received bachelor's degrees, according to the federal government's Digest of Education Statistics 2015.

In individual states and Washington, D.C., the numbers ranged from 54.8 percent in the nation's capital, with its high concentration of government professionals, to 19.3 percent in West Virginia.

Here are the states that, along with the District of Columbia, had the highest  percentage of residents 25 and older who had completed bachelor's degrees.
