Council approves $3.6 million plan to renovate former Goodwill facility

The Portland, Maine, City Council has approved a proposal to spend $3.6 million to buy and renovate a former Goodwill Industries building downtown to serve as a new school facility. The Bangor Daily News says the three-story, 50,000-square-foot facility is slated to house the school district's central offices and other programs.The purchase price for the building is $2.7 million, and the district expects to incur an additional $850,000 to $900,000 in legal, administrative and renovation costs.
