Defense department provides funds for new high school in Utah

The U.S. Department of Defense is giving the Tooele (Utah) School District $13.2 million to build a new high school to replace the aging one at the Army’s Dugway Proving Ground. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the district will have to spend only $2.7 million in matching funds for the $15.9 million project. the school, built in 1959, lacks a cafeteria, and students walk 200 yards to an elementary school for lunch. The new building will serve 120 students in grades 7-12, and it will have a capacity to serve 350 if the district decides to replace the nearby elementary school.
