Prosecutors in Missouri have filed a criminal charge against a high school football player for an alleged attack on an opponent during a game. The Kansas City Star reports that Colin W. Byrd, 17, a student at Platte County High School in Platte City, Mo., has been charged with misdemeanor assault. The student allegedly twisted the helmet off a player from Winnetonka High School in Kansas City as the two players went out of bounds. Byrd then hit his opponent in the head with the helmet, court records say.
