New schools would join 35 charters already operating in the district

The Broward County (Fla.) School Board has approved applications for 19 new charter schools. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel says the proposals that were approved include a sports-themed academy, two Hebrew-language schools and several focused on science and math. The board rejected three applications. Broward County has 95 charters already operating, with an enrollment of about 37,000 students.
