Lowndes County (Miss.) school board decides to build new facility to ease crowding in Caledonia

The Lowndes County (Miss.) School Board has approved a plan to build a new elementary school on the district's campus in Caledonia. The Commercial Dispatch reports that the existing elementary building in Caledonia has more than 1,100 students in grades K to 3 and is filled to capacity. Until the new school is ready, school officials will bring in portable classrooms to ease the space crunch. The elementary school will be situated at the south end of the campus and cost about $16 million.
