Man who was being sought by Durham police had fired a shotgun at officers.

Police officers at North Carolina Central University in Durham fatally shot a man who fired a shotgun blast at them and then refused to surrender. The Raleigh News & Observer says the incident began Monday night about 10:15 p.m. when the man, who was being sought by Durham police, got off a bus near the university campus. Campus police encountered the man, and he drew the shotgun from the waist of his pants. He fired toward police, and officers shot back as the man ran into a wooded area.
