The newest residence hall at the Maryland Institute College of Art, set to open this month in Baltimore, provides lessons in creating a space that is not only chic and attractive, but also durable and flexible. It has vinyl flooring that resembles driftwood and pressed-concrete walls that look like planks and innovative seating that can be configured in multiple ways.
