Deal with power plant will enable Michigan district to begin 2013-14 year

The Covert (Mich.) district will be able to open for the 2013-14 school year after it reached a deal with owners of a power plant. Mlive.com says the deal calls for the district to get some funding from the owners of the New Covert Generating plant. The district's cash-flow problems are linked to a property tax dispute involving local governments and Tenaska Capital Management, the company that owns New Covert Generating. The district serves about 480 students in grades K-12.
