Tony Bennett resigns after questions raised about altering evaluation of politically connected charter school when he worked in Indiana

Florida Education Commissioner Tony Bennett has resigned after allegations surfaced that, during his previous job as Indiana's school chief, he altered the evaluation of a charter school run by a major Republican donor. The Tampa Tribune says that Bennett's suitability for the commissioner's job came into question after emails published earlier this week showed Bennett and his Indiana staff scrambled to make sure Christel House Academy in Indianapolis received an "A," despite poor 10th-grade algebra scores that resulted in a "C."
