St. Louis considers building a new elementary

District hasn't built a new school in nearly a decade

The St. Louis school district is considering something that hasn’t been done for nearly a decade in his district: building a new school. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch says a proposed $17.6 million building in the Tower Grove Park area would serve city neighborhoods with the highest percentages of preschool and school-aged children. Twenty schools have closed in the district since 2008. The new building would replace three older schools — Mann, Sherman and Shenandoah. Sherman already closed last spring.
