Buena Vista (Mich.) district is formally dissolved

The Buena Vista (Mich.) school district has been formally dissolved, and its students will be dispersed to two neighboring districts. The Detroit Free Press says the Saginaw district will take over Buena Vista's five school buildings and assume responsibility for an area that has 261 students. The Bridgeport-Spaulding district will absorb an area that has 135 students. A small section of the Buena Vista district has been assigned to the Frankenmuth district, but as of last school year no students from that area were attending Buena Vista schools. Buena Vista's demise was triggered by a new state law that allows the dissolution of small, financially distressed school districts.
