Recreation center to be built at Baltimore County (Md.) elementary

New center at Padonia Elementary will enable school to convert existing gym to classroom space.

The Baltimore County (Md.) district will build a recreation and community center at Padonia International Elementary School and convert the existing gymnasium into needed classroom space. The Baltimore Sun reports that the $3 million, 14,260-square-foot Padonia Community/Police Athletic League Center will replace an existing center across the street. Padonia International has a state-rated capacity of 311 students, but is projected to open the 2013-14 school year with 490 students.
