Court rejects attempt to stop Sacramento school closures

A federal judge has denied a bid by parents seeking to prevent the Sacramento (Calif.) City Unified District from closing seven elementary schools. The Sacramento Bee reports that the judge said plaintiffs had not presented enough evidence to justify court intervention. A dozen students and their parents contended in the lawsuit that the closures were in predominantly low-income and minority neighborhoods.
