Victim of shooting at Maryland high school wins $21.4 million court judgment

A Baltimore County, Md., man paralyzed from the waist down in a 2004 shooting at Randallstown High School has been awarded $21.4 million in a civil case against the two men convicted in the attack. The Baltimore Sun says that William "Tipper" Thomas, now 26, was shot twice in the school parking lot about a month before he was scheduled to graduate. The gunmen — Matthew McCullough and Tyrone Brown — did not appear in court. They have been convicted of the shooting and sentenced to prison. Thomas' mother had sued McCullough and Brown, along with the principal of Randallstown High, the Baltimore County school board, the county police and two officers. But a judge threw out the case against the school system, police department and the officers.
