Shooting spree ends at Santa Monica College, leaves 6 dead, including gunman

After killing his brother and father, 23-year-old man flees into campus library, where authorities shot him to death.

A shooting spree that ended on the campus of Santa Monica College left six people, including the gunman, dead. The Los Angeles Daily News says John Zawahri began his rampage at his Santa Monica, Calif., home, where he fatally shot his father and brother. He later carjacked a vehicle and forced the driver to take him to the college campus. Police shot Zawahri to death in the library. Among those killed was Carlos Franco, a groundskeeper at Santa Monica College, and his daughter, Marcela, 26, who was with her father to buy college textbooks.
