Renovation of 12 schools begins in Orange County (Fla.) district

Growing school system is spending $206 million on facility upgrades.

The Orange County (Fla.) school district is beginning an overhaul this summer of facilities on 12 campuses. The Orlando Sentinel reports the district is spending $206 million upgrading one high school--Cypress Creek--and 11 elementary schools-- Dr. Phillips, John Young, Lake Silver, Little River, Ocoee, Pineloch, Shingle Creek, Spring Lake, Washington Shores, Waterford and Wheatley. Most of the elementary projects are full replacements. At six schools, students will spend next year in swing space: empty schools within a short drive of those being renovated.
