Oklahoma City board votes to close charter school

District officials say Marcus Garvey Leadership Charter School mismanaged finances and had subpar academic performance

The Oklahoma City School Board has voted to close Marcus Garvey Leadership Charter School. The Oklahoman reports that district administrators allege poor academics and financial mismanagement. An attorney for the school disputes the allegations. The district expects that the 180 or so students attending the charter will transfer to traditional schools in the area.
