Two elementary schools in Lynwood (Calif.) district will get new facilities

The Lynwood (Calif.) Unified School District is building new classroom facilities at Lincoln and Washington elementary schools. The Los Angeles Wave says that workers will remove dozens of outdated portable classrooms on the two campuses and replace them with permanent structures. The combined cost of the projects is about $26 million; half of the funding will come from state matching dollars. At Washington, the plan is to remove 29 portable classrooms and replace them with two, two-story buildings, each featuring eight classrooms and staff and student restrooms. At Lincoln, 17 portable classrooms and restrooms will be replaced with one, two-story building with 14 classrooms and staff and student restrooms.
