Clark County (Nev.) board gives superintendent job to interim leader

The Clark County (Nev.) School Board has decided that the district's interim superintendent will receive a permanent appointment. The Las Vegas Sun reports that Pat Skorkowsky has been appointed superintendent of the nation's fifth-largest school district. Board members opted not to conduct a national search after gathering public input that indicated strong support for filling the job internally. Skorkowsky is a a 25-year educator who rose through the district ranks from first-grade teacher to deputy and interim superintendent. He replaces Dwight Jones, who left thte district unexpected in March after a little more than two years on the job.
