Wake County (N.C.) district picks 3 finalists for top job

District is seeking a replacement for Tony Tata, who was fired in September.

Veteran career educators from North Carolina, Virginia and Texas are the three finalists vying to be the next superintendent of the Wake County (N.C.) school system. The Raleigh News & Observer says the candidates are Dana Bedden, the superintendent of the Irving (Texas) Independent School District, Ann Clark, the deputy superintendent of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) district; and James Merrill, the superintendent of Virginia Beach (Va.) district.
