The principal of Jefferson Middle School in Oklahoma City, Okla.,has resigned after her efforts to combat student tardiness resulted in almost 100 suspensions and some arrests. The Oklahoman says four of the suspended students were arrested on trespassing complaints after they tried to return to school. Adys Regina Altstatt and school staff members spent three days last week rounding up and suspending students who were in the hall after the tardy bell rang. A police arrest report stated that Jefferson Middle had more than 100 students late to class every day.
