Classes in West (Texas) district are to resume Monday

The West (Texas) Independent School District plans to resume classes Monday, despite significant damage to three of its four schools from a deadly explosion at a fertilizer plant. KWTX.com says that students in grades 7 through 12 will finish the school year in temporary quarters provided by the Connally district, and pre-K through 6th grade students will attend class at West Elementary School. The explosion heavily damaged the district’s intermediate school building, which may be beyond repair. The 90-year-old main building of the district’s middle school also sustained heavy damage, and officials have concerns about the structural integrity of the high school. The schools were empty when the explosion occurred.
