Charter operators have proposed 7 new schools in Connecticut

State hasn't approved any new charter schools since 2007.

Proposals for seven new charter schools in Connecticut have been submitted, including two that have the support of teachers union. The Hartford Courant says Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has proposed money for nine new charter schools over the next two fiscal years, but the legislature had not decided if it will keep the funding in the budget. Connecticut has 17 state charter schools in operation. The last time a new charter was approved was in 2007.
