The city school system plans to close 61 buildings, many of which have architectural and historical significance.

Among the schools targeted for closing in Chicago are several architecturally significant buildings. Lee Bey, a blogger on architecture for WBEZ Radio, went out to snap photos of some of the schools, and asks the question: "What will happen to the closed school buildings, many of which...are remarkable pieces of architecture, often done by the city's best architects, and are worthy of preservation and reuse?
