Parents in Garden Grove (Calif.) district decry lack of communication in overhauling facilities

District is carrying out a $503 million facility modernization program.

Parents in the Garden Grove (Calif.) Unified district are confused and irritated by what they view as a lack of communication from district officials regarding a $503 million facility modernization plan. The Orange County Register says the process includes upgrading dozens of schools, determining which campuses should remain open and which should close during construction, and relocating hundreds of students to accommodate those closures. The parents' complaints range from concerns about congested parking to worries that school mergers will create blind spots in emergency procedures.
