Special master appointed to oversee Memphis-Shelby County merger

Judge says merger of city and county districts is moving too slowly.

A judge has assigned the former chief administrative officer for the city of Memphis as a “special master” to oversee the merger of the Memphis and Shelby County (Tenn.) school systems. The Memphis Daily News reports that  Judge Samuel “Hardy” Mays appointed Rick Masson after raising concerns about the progress the unified city-county school board was making in approving merger recommendations.
