Palm Beach County (Fla.) will close 1 charter, but gives a reprieve to 2 others

March 7, 2013
Charter high school in Delray Beach will close in June.

The Palm Beach County (Fla.) district will close one charter school, but the board has decided to let two poorly performing charters stay open. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel says Excel Leadership Academy, a high school in Delray Beach, will be closed. It has financial troubles and declining enrollment. The board also discussed closing Leadership Academy West, a high school in West Palm Beach, and My Choice Academy, a K-7 school in Riviera Beach, but gave each school more time to correct their problems.
