Parents oppose recommendation to close 2 Houston schools

Ryan Middle and Jones High could be shuttered because of declining enrollment.

Two schools in the Houston district that have been showered with extra cash and support over the past three years could be headed for closure this summer as enrollment continues to plummet. The Houston Chronicle says supporters of Ryan Middle School and Jones High School are protesting Superintendent Terry Grier's recommendation to close the campuses and merge them with nearby schools.
