Schools in Knox County, Tenn., will get security reviews

Knox County (Tenn.) School Superintendent Jim McIntyre wants the security systems at all of the district’s 88 schools to be reviewed by the end of the summer. The Knoxville News-Sentinel reports that the inspections will examine security alarm and video monitoring systems and test keypads and proximity card readers at every school. The action comes after an audit of security at two schools found major deficiencies: surveillance cameras that didn’t work, unprotected cabling, and electronic keypads that were bolted to brick with no connections to doorways.
