New law reduces size of Omaha school board from 12 to 9

Nebraska Gov. Dan Heineman has signed legislation forcing a shakeup of the Omaha school board. The Omaha World-Herald says the new law reduces the number of board members from 12 to nine, and puts all seats up for election this spring. State Sen. Scott Lautenbaugh of Omaha, who introduced the legislation, believes a smaller board will operate more efficiently and be more effective.
