Second-grade boy finds handgun in his backpack at Philadelphia school

Revolver apparently was in his backpack all day

A 7-year-old student found a loaded handgun Thursday in his backpack at a Philadelphia charter school. Philly.com reports that the boy was not aware he had the gun when he went to Samuel Daroff Elementary School in the morning. He discovered the weapon while he was putting his jacket in his backpack on his way to an afterschool program. He immediately told his teacher, who told a supervisor and police were immediately notified.
