Catholic high school in St. Louis to close after 130 years

St. Elizabeth Academy was the second-oldest Catholic high school in the city.

From The St. Louis Post-Dispatch: St. Elizabeth Academy, one of the oldest Catholic high schools in St. Louis, will close at the end of the school year because of declining enrollment. The all-girls school has been operating since 1882. This year's enrollment is 133. Decades ago, it was more than 500. Sister Susan Borgel, president of the school, says the possibility of closing has been discussed for the last three years. St. Elizabeth is the second-oldest Catholic high school operating in the city. St. Louis University High School opened in 1818.
