Doctors group recommends standards for treating students with concussions

The American Academy of Pediatrics addresses when and how a student should return to class work following a concussion.

Some states have established standards for when a student with a concussion may resume playing contact sports, but only a few states have begun to address how and when a student should resume classwork. Now, The New York Times reports, the American Academy of Pediatrics has issued recommendations for “return to learn” checklists to alert doctors, school administrators and parents to potential cognitive and academic challenges to students who have suffered concussions.
