Catholic high school under construction in South Carolina

John Paul II Catholic School will open in Okatie in August.

From The Island Packet: The Catholic Diocese of Charleston, S.C., has broken ground in Okatie on John Paul II Catholic School, the first Catholic high school in the area. The school is expected to open in August. The diocese's fund-raising campaign has received more than $9 million in pledges and donations. That's enough to build the two-story, 28,000-square-foot school building but about $3 million shy of the amount needed for a planned gymnasium. John Paul II will accommodate as many as 500 students in grades 7 through 12.
