Dallas board votes to close 11 schools

Eliminating 9 elementary and 2 middle schools will save $11.5 million, district says.

From The Dallas Independent School District: The Dallas school board has approved a plan to close 11 schools, including 9 elementary schools and 2 middle schools. The schools will be consolidated with other campuses beginning next school year; the district projects the closings will save about $11.5 million. Dallas anticipates a budget deficit of $25 million as a result of funding cuts by the Texas Legislature.
