Residents in New Hampshire town frustrated over elementary school construction delays

Delays in building a school in Unity means students from the town may have to spend all of 2013-14 at schools in the next town.

Residents of Unity, N.H., are expressing frustration over school construction delays that are forcing the town's students to travel to nearby Claremont for classes. The Valley News reports that about 100 students from Unity are attending schools in Claremont, about 8 miles away, while a new school is built in Unity. Official initially thought students could return to Unity before the end of the calendar year, but a revised timeline may force them to stay in Claremont for the entire year.  Constructed was halted over the summer because of problems with window installations and architectural drawings. Town residents approved funding for a new school in 2010 after unsafe conditions at the old Unity Elementary persuaded the state to shut down the facility.
