Recovery district picks construction manager for $1.8 billion plan in New Orleans

Jacobs/CSRS partnership receives 3-year contract to oversee plan to upgrade school facilities.

The Louisiana Recovery School District has awarded a three-year contract to oversee the $1.8 billion school construction project in New Orleans to the Jacobs/CSRS partnership. Nola.com says the contract is expected to cost about $28 million. The money comes from a school building insurance settlement with FEMA that stemmed from Hurricane Katrina. The master plan is a joint endeavor between the Recovery School District and the Orleans Parish School District to reshape the city's school buildings. Officials promise that in a few years, every New Orleans public school student will be in a new or renovated classroom.
