Fairfax County (Va.) school board seeks $866 million in capital spending

District predicts an additional 15,000 students in the county by 2018

The Fairfax County (Va.) School Board is proposing $866 million in school construction and renovations, part of an effort by the administration to address a surge in student enrollment. The Washington Post says the school system has grown by about 20,000 students since 2006. It has an enrollment of 184,500 this year, and based on current trends, school administrators predict that the student population could reach 199,000 by 2018.
