Los Angeles district moves ahead with iPad plan, but at a slower pace

The Los Angeles Unified School Board has agreed to move ahead with a trimmed-down plan to provide iPads to students. The Los Angeles Times reports that the board's 6-1 vote means that the distribution of the tablet devices can continue for this year as planned. Students on 47 campuses received iPads earlier this year, and another 35 campuses will get the devices. The board also approved oversight measures that will delay the districtwide rollout beyond the next 35 campuses, perhaps by as much as a year.
