Developer buys former Catholic school campus in Buffalo

Purchase leads to speculation that former Holy Angels Academy site may become a charter school

Carl Paladino, a real estate developer who sits on the Buffalo (N.Y.) School Board, has bought a former Catholic school in the city. The Buffalo News says Paladino bought the former Holy Angels Academy and its surrounding 5.37 acres at auction for $2.9 million. Paladino wouldn’t elaborate on his plans for the former Catholic girls school, except to say that he has a tenant and a plan that he believes will be acceptable to the community. Paladino would not confirm or deny plans for a charter school, but he has been a strong supporter and deeply involved in charter school development in the past.
