Broward County (Fla.) district looks to sell unused land
Jan. 5, 2014
After years of buying land to build new schools, the Broward County (Fla.) School District now is looking to unload some parcels. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the district has put three separate lots — in Plantation, Fort Lauderdale and Oakland Park — up for sale, and hopes to get than $10 million. The three lots total almost 14 acres and were bought more than 10 years ago to build an elementary school in Plantation and additional parking lots for teachers at Oakland Park Elementary and North Side Elementary. The school was never built, and teachers found other places to park.
